101 in 1001 update #85 and 86

Well I missed the last update, oopsies! I have a plan to keep up on that, but more on that later.
#7 - See 1 film a week in the theatre for a year is steamrolling ahead! Week 43 I got out to The Darjeeling Limited as well as numerous films from Toronto After Dark Film Festival which continued through to Week 44. See here for my coverage of the film festival films.

#14 - Write something about all the films I see (for the first time) throughout these 1001 days. I've got a review up for Rosemary’s Baby up at Movie Moxie, and will continue reviews there.



#38 - Keep a plant alive from 'The Auction' from one year to the next - this one is back to attack. Although all three of my plants from last didn't make it, I did get out to the auction again this year and have the opportunity to try this one again. I went with some hopefully more sure fire possibilities such as a spider plant (which I will keep at work and away from the kitty cat), an aloe plant, then I did brave an African violet as well as 2 others I've no idea what they are called. So far they all survived week one!

I finished Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling, On Writing by Steven King and I Hated, Hated, Hated This Movie by Roger Ebert. Time to start something new!



#92 - Learn/Discover something new every day
Bah, again I don't have it by day but learned lots:
Make an easy peasy version of Chicken Cordon Bleu
Def: zeitgeist: the general intellectual, moral and cultural climate of an era
Bloglines has a search feature
Def: satire: which I forgot to write down...
Just because you have the opportunity to do something doesn't mean you have to do it
Umbrella's are not my friend. I think it's time to get a rain jacket with hood instead.

The Creative Bizarre in Hyannis, Cape Cod!

Wow, what fun! Over the weekend I was in Cape Cod with my sister Jamie for Melba's Creative Bazaar. It was such a treat to get to go and to meet (and shop!) so many creative bloggers - some of which I've been reading for ages and some who are new to me. Many wonderful memories were made and I look forward to continuing these connections.


I was there at the invite of Jamie who was doing Tarot Coaching for the Bizarre (see more about her coaching practice here). It was a lot of fun as you can see by this pic (Jamie & I often joke that we can have fun anywhere!)

We were right beside the event organizer, the lovely Melba. What a joy to meet her! She really is just as wonderful and kind as I imagined! And her family - oh my! We got to meet them too and they are wonderful people! Here is Melba with Jamie, right after we bought our journals. I can't wait to start mine!






Across from us was Mary Ann from follow your bliss. What a treat to meet her, she is so lovely! She really has some lovely wears, I picked up a button - they are so cute! And, she's a movie buff too - how exciting! I can't wait to talk film Mary Ann!


Beside her was Jana from Jana's Journeys. Oh my, I know you said this Jana on your blog but it really did feel after just a few moments that we'd all known each other for years! She is a spitfire, with wonderful boxes for sale to boot! I got mine! yay for short peoples too! heheheh

Other lovely ladies present were ArtsyMama (I loved the Halloween theme she had going on - totally cool!)



Also got to meet Heidi from Birds of a Feather, she is so lovley! The paper fun at Ursula and Olive's was great stop too!

After the Bizarre a few of the blogladies went out and here's my pic of the event, it's reminisence of pics from my old camera, isn't it?


As you can tell, it was an awesome weekend!

101 in 1001 update #82, 83 and 84

I'm back from Cape Cod and oh my goodness it was amazing! Thank you to Melba for organizing The Creative Bizarre and to Jamie for inviting me to go! I had such a great time. I will post more about it and post pics but I just have to get my 101 update up - it's been too long!



#7 - See 1 film a week in the theatre for a year is going strong! I'm now up to 42 weeks in a row! Only 10 to go, I am so excited at how well this is going! Third time lucky (fingers crossed). Films 40-42 are: The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (too long and not interesting enough for me), In the Shadow of the Moon (charming documentary)
and Eastern Promises (harsh but watchable).

No reviews up for those films but I've made solid progress on #14 - Write something about all the films I see (for the first time) throughout these 1001 days. I've been posting them over on my film blog, Movie Moxie, and for October I'm focusing on scary films be they old or new - BOO!

#94 - Read every day - done!
I finished The Four Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss - not quite my cuppa tea but had some good insights in there.

I started and almost finished by had to return the Sidney Poitier autobiography: The Measure of a Man - it took me a while to get into it but I ended up quite enjoying it and am looking forward to finishing it.

I'm currently still working through Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling - getting pretty close to done there.

I've started On Writing by Steven King (thank you Sabine for the recommendation!)

#31 - Find 1 cool podcast a month for October 07
I found an excellent podcast I just adore, it's called Movies You Should See. It's British and it cracks me up! I can't help giggling while listening to it which isn't the best if I'm on the streetcar or just walking down the street. One thing to note - it's spoiler city so for me, contrary to the title I actually only listen to podcasts if I've seen the film. They also have some great year end and themed shows.

#92 - Learn/Discover something new every day
Again I don't have this specified by day but here is a bunch of stuff I learned over the past few weeks:
When pedestrian cross the stoplighted spots in Hyannis, you push a button and all traffic stops and pedestrains cross every which way they can
How to do many new kinds of puzzles! I've been working on #16 - Attempt all the puzzles in a Variety Crossword puzzle book
Travelling at the beginning or end of the season totally appeals to me
Close windows before going on vacation! Coming home I didn't realize it would be 10degreesC here!
Kidnation - reality show with 9 year olds? How can that be legal?
It's really odd not to be able to recycle stuff
That the 'memory is almost at capacity' is not the 'low battery' indicator on my camera

I am wanting to list these by day again - hopefully I will have that for next week!
