I'm to busy to write this week so I got the cat to do it. Well, not really....

This week the highlighter does fly with the completion of: #98 - Teach someone something as well as a partial: #100 - 6/8 Celebrate Ostara woot, that one is almost done just need to have some Beltane and Midsummer fun and that will be 100% complete!

#21 - Save a part of every paycheque - done!

#94 - Read every day - done! Still reading: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling, No Lifeguard on Duty by Janice Dickinson (which I had to return to the library before I finished!) & I, Robot by Isaac Asimov. I also started The Success Principles by Jack Canfield, I was intrigued by Jamie's posts on the book which you can see here.

#92 - Learn/Discover something new every day
Monday March 19/07 - How much I don't know (lol) this was from listening to the BBC's Radio News Podcast, almost all of the issues they were talking about I was unfamiliar with.
Tuesday March 20/07 - I really want to spend more time reading my fellow bloggie's blogs
Wednesday March 21/07 - now there is a genetically modified mosquiteo with a fitness advantage against rodent malaria
Thursday March 22/07 - It apparently takes 20 minutes to recover from any interruption from what you are doing, even if the issue is resolved
Friday March 23/07 - a blesbok is an antelope that has purple fur (this is from a DubbleBubble wrapper so I'm not totally convinced ...)
Saturday March 24/07 - The yummy goodness and quick dissapearence of Kettle Chips - Yogurt and Green Onion flavour
Sunday March 25/07 - Always check films you are renting/borrowing to see if they have english subtitles

#98 - Teach someone something

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Completed: March 2007

I almost missed that I had done this. 1 - it wasn't intentional, 2 - it was at work, 3 - I didn't volunteer but was volunteered to do it and well, ok that is enough reasons.

It was more like training than teaching, I did a conference call and I can't really go into it much more than that as it was for work and I don't talk about that much here. But.. the details there aren't important to be honest. What I got from it was realizing that this is something I *can* do, it's something I have done (which I totally forgot about) and it went pretty well. For me, it's always goes better if it's with people I already know; mostly because I'm a bit of and oddball and it's easier on them if that is known up front.

All that being said, even though it went well I think I am happy to keep it an underused skill - I don't it too much overall. At least for now.

#100 - 6/8 Celebrate Ostara

Celebrated: March 20, 2007

Althought there was still snow out and about it was quite lovely that when I got home it was still streaming sunlight into the kitchen. I really took the plunge and got not only a plant (oh my... cross your fingers!) but I even picked up some seeds! What could be more fitting on the first day of spring than to plant seeds?

I cleared out two old pots, letting go of 2 of my auction plants that I know weren't coming back, topped up with some fresh soil and planted some basil as well as some flowers... I'm not sure what but they look pretty. I always thing its a good combo to do something practical (like basil, which I'll use) as well as something I will enjoy just for it's beauty.

To complete the evening I celebrated with a Caramilk egg. Ooey-gooey goodness!

Too bad that I've not got anything up to add to #14 - Write something about all the films I see (for the first time) throughout these 1001 days. There is always next week! I did end up watching a lot of film though, my #3 - List of 101 Films I Can't Believe I Haven't Seen is up to 44/101.. again many reviews still to write

101 in 1001 update #53!!!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Ah, well... it isn't Monday but it's still update day! One of the funniest things I came across this week while working on my 101's was doing puzzles for #16 - Attempt all the puzzles in a Variety Crossword puzzle book while my laundry was going around and around. I found my patience was very very short! If I couldn't see the answer RIGHT AWAY I got frustrated. That was new for me (stop laughing ! It's true....) ok so I don't have an abundance of patience but I used to for this kind of thing. It was really good though, it let me realize I need to just chill and think, and it will come (hopefully). And on to more partial's....

#7 - See 1 film a week in the theatre for a year is up to 10 weeks, this week I went to see: John & Jane as well as the Oscar nominated documentary shorts. I've been working as well on #14 - Write something about all the films I see (for the first time) throughout these 1001 days (click on film title to link through to review). And even more reviews with these completed: La Vie secrète des gens heureux / The Secret Life of Happy People, Letters from Iwo Jima, The Good Shepherd and Little Children

#38 - Keep a plant alive from 'The Auction' from one year to the next - update: Berry is still alive! My plant at work is doing great, it's just started to flower!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

#21 - Save a part of every paycheque - done! This one has been a bit of a challenge this month, I actually went and deposited some cash a bit ago so I could continue to put money to savings. I know it seems weird, but it worked for me!

#94 - Read every day - done! Currenlty reading: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling, No Lifeguard on Duty by Janice Dickinson & I, Robot by Isaac Asimov (I've only made it through the first story so far and it rocked!). I seem to read 1 fiction and 1 non fiction at a time, but I also added I, Robot as it's small and handy enough to carry with me and the other 2 are kinda big.

#92 - Learn/Discover something new every day
Monday March 5/07 - New program of films at Cinematheque is up
Tuesday March 6/07 - Today, is the coldest day - EVER! At least it feels like it
Wednesday March 7/07 - the existance of REEL Canada an initiative to bring Canadian film into classrooms. They have a rockin list of films (see here) that I've very excited to add any I've not seen to my to see list. Thank you Jamie for sending me this link!
Thursday March 8/07 - Fashion week is starting March 12/07 - foiled again, found out so late
Friday March 9/07 - Doing something outside your comfort zone can make you more comfortable with it (ok.. it's a no brainer as a concept but to feel it happen is different)
Saturday March 10/07 - the Library (Toronto) has a great function called 'my list' where you can keep names of books/materials that you like but don't want to request just yet. This rocked as I've added almost everything I've left to see in my 101 films to see, but I don't want them all at once!
Sunday March 11/07 - my bedroom actually gets sunlight mid-afternoon... it's amazing the things you learn when trying to find where the cat is (smart cat was in the sun)

Yay for Saturdays!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I'm not normally one to count to the days to the weekend, as I would prefer to enjoy every day instead of paying my dues through the week to enjoy 'my time' later. But this week was a bit of a zinger, so I'm am thrilled it is Saturday!!!

I started off sleeping in a bit (yay!!) and then picked up some books and movies at the library. I gotta say, I am so thrilled that I realized many of the films I want to see for my 101 (and in general) are available through the library! Which means, getting to seem them for FREE!! Totally rocks, I just have to make sure not to request too many at a time, its a 1 week due date on movies so I can only see so many at a time so it takes some stratagizing. I also picked up some books too, fun fun!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Then off to the Bloor to meet my Mom and so see the Oscar-Nominated Best Documentary Short Films. Great company and great films. Do try and get to them if you can! I've listed the info here on my film blog, or check out The Bloor's site here.

So although it's shushy and icy outside and a bit grey, I've had a great day and its only just 5pm. I'm off to hang out with a friend, so I gotta run - have a lovely weekend everyone!!

101 in 1001 update #52!!!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Welcome to the 1 year anniversary of the star of my 101 things in 1001 days journey!

There is a really wierd thing I just noticed. The 3 time cropping up of the number 37. I've completed 37 out of 101. I've seen 37 of the 101 films I set out to see (not all are noted as I've not posted about all of them yet). And although there are 11 tasks I'm in the process of doing, 5 in which I'm waiting for the next opporunity, 6 that I've researched, and 5 that I won't be able to say they are complete until the end of this journey but there are 37 that I've not started at all.

Some of my favorites over this past year have been:

#44 - Throw a housewarming party
#83 - Try out 10 new restaurants (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8/10)
#48 - Go to Ffida
#50 - Go to the Bata Shoe Museum (

The one's I've found the most challenging have been:

#69 - Get 8hrs sleep a night for 1 week
#93 - Make a list of 20 books that I want to read (at more than 1/3 through the challenge I've read about 20%)
#14 - Write something about all the films I see (for the first time) throughout these 1001 days (I didn't realize the sheer volume of how much I watch. Feb 07 it worked out to 1 film every 2 days). No seperate post for this one yet but all my film reviews are here.
#85 - Be on time for a month (hardest thing ever)

The ones that have made the most impact have been:

#15 - Analyze my spending and create a budget
#33 - Find a new apartment
#67 - Floss every day for a month & hopefully forever
#84 - Ask for what I want
#21 - Save a part of every paycheque

There are many I'm looking forward to doing, and some in which I'm comtemplating that the heck I was thinking at the time. What has surpized me the most is that I've done almost none of the ones involving fashion/clothes, and barely even thought about trying them. I'm not sure if that is a priority shift, or time/money thing or what.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Enough of reminiscing, here is the scoop on this weeks progress:

.#7 - See 1 film a week in the theatre for a year is up to 10 weeks, this I got out to see Volver with a review already up on it, I'm happy to say that #7 this week is in tandem with #14 - Write something about all the films I see (for the first time) throughout these 1001 days. I hope to keep that one up!

More progress on #2 - Compile a list of all the films I've seen. I got up to 'O' in transposing titles from a film guide bringing the list up to 1083. This one is feeling like completion is really getting close. Of course, I will have to update it as I continue to see films.

#38 - Keep a plant alive from 'The Auction' from one year to the next - update: Berry is still alive! And in other plant news I was thrilled that my plant at work is flowering! I've been looking after if for almost a year! It's grown so much since I posted about it here I'm going to have to take a new pic of it soon for comparison.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

#21 - Save a part of every paycheque - done!

#94 - Read every day - done! Finally finished Sword-Born by Jennifer Roberson, and I'm leaving and Sword-Sworn for another time as I move on to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. This brings #93 make a list of 20 books to read and read them up to 4.5/20.

#92 - Learn/Discover something new every day
Monday Feb 26/07
- rebates can take a while to go through the whole process
Tuesday Feb 27/07 - can't do leftovers for a souffle (in therory - althought I might try it out)
Wednesday Feb 28/07 - you can donate your phone to the daily bread food bank for resale http://www.think-food.com/. Has a printable mail label.
Thursday March 1/07 - The Canada Winter games are being hosted in Whitehorse this year and for the first time have included Inuit and Dene games. More info here.
Friday March 2/07 - taking a 'rest' at 10:30pm isn't really just a 'resting my eyes'. Lol…
Saturday March 3/07 - favorite and favourite are both considered correct spellings
Sunday March 4/07 - Definition of altruistic: thoughtful of the welfare of others, altruist is an unselfish person. This came up in a hilarious phone conversation with Suzie
