101 in 1001 update #64!!!

Well as promised I'm up another notch on my list and had many updates for the 5 new restaurants I went to to cap out #83 Try out 10 new restaurants. I actually went overboard at made it up to 13.

#7 - See 1 film a week in the theatre for a year continues with week 22 pick: The Namesake.

#38 - Keep a plant alive from 'The Auction' from one year to the next - update: Berry's still alive, was looking a little wilty/leany though. Oh no's! I'm still cheering for Berry!

#21 - Save a part of every paycheque - done!



#94 - Read every day - done! I finished How to Write Effective Emails by R.L. Trask, and continuing to devour The Success Principles by Jack Canfield, and recently just started The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams - which is a complete delight.

#83 Try out 10 new restaurants

Well, done done and then some! I actually ended up at 13 so far.. the last 5 were all so close together in time I decided to include them all. When I look at the list I can see the type's of places I like to go easily (4 Pubs and 3 Asian, 2 in Kensington). Some of the list have become regular spots (The Artful Dodger & Gabby's), many outings were for celebrations and birthdays and other's were by chance. A big thank-you to Jamie for being there for most if not all of them, and for everyone who invited me somewhere new!

So far, this has been one of the most fun things to do on my 101. Who doesn't like to go out for dinner? I know I do! Someone else will be cooking? I'm so there....

Great breakfast spot!! Went after Nia with Jamie and really really enjoyed it. I got the classic bacon & eggs, so good! It's a busy spot but we got seated fast (at times there was a line up), and we ever got re-seated to a nice window seat without even having to ask! The staff were all very sweet which is always a treat. Good food, good & plentiful coffee, I would reccomend it for sure and love to go again.

#83 - 12/10 - Try out 10 new restaurants - House on Parliament

House on Parliament, 456 Parliament St, Toronto

Great spot! I know I already got to 10 on my new restaurent list but I had to include this one as I really thought it was great. Has a good sized outdoor patio, but since me and Jamie aren't patio girls we headed inside. It's a modest size but very comfortable and the staff are amazing! We were so well taken care of, it was like they psychically knew when we were ready to order, done eating, ready for the bill - superb! The food was great too, pub fare and more I went with the wings (yum) and sampled Jamie's quesidillia's which were awesome. I'll definately go again and I reccomend it.

#83 - 11/10 - Try out 10 new restaurants - Siji

Siji, 143 Dundas St. W (at Elizabeth), Toronto

May 18, 2007 with everyone from work, for a good-bye lunch for a co-worker

One of the coolest thing about going to this restaurant was the tatami rooms, we had a large group and so we had a room to ourselves, with recessed tables but also lots of leg room. It was really cool. The food was awesome as well, I had the tempura - yummy! I tried 2 new things while I was there - taro (as part of the tempura) and salmon sashimi. Neither sat really well with me, but I felt brave to try! I would go again, it was a lot of fun.

Demetre's, 400 Danforth Avenue, Toronto

May 16, 2007 with Jamie, Justin, Justin's brother, dad, sister-in-law, niece & newphew for his Dad's Bday for dessert!



Now, this almost felt like pushing it to include as we went there for dessert and I only had a cappachino (and small samplings of other's ice cream delights), but they serve food too and everything was absolutely wonderful. I can't remember the last time I went out for dessert, but I hope that the next time is sooner than the last! I highly reccommend it.

I think I had my camera on macro setting because all my pic's from there are fuzzy! It's a lovely restaurant, I had pasta with chicken, shrimp, veggies in a teriyaki cream sauce. Wonderful time, and great company! I think with the 3 camera's at the table at least 1000 photos were taken! The service was great, and the food was wonderful!

SPC: On the Street 4

This must appear as a very unlikely 'on the street' photo of urban me, but yes - that is me! It is from Fall of 2005 when visiting my sister Suzie in BC. We went for a walk (aren't a I good sport?) and this was on the path and I just had to snag a pic of me with this lovely Bear Warning sign! You just never know what you will come across when you go for a walk!

#7 - See 1 film a week in the theatre for a year is moving forward, with this week up to 21 weeks, with After the Wedding / Efter brylluppet. Excellent film, I'd highly recommend it.

101 in 1001 update #62!!!

I am so thrilled to say I'm up to 40/101!!! YAY!! I've been wanted to say that for so long! Well, since I made a pie I guess... But, pie's aside the 40th complete on my list is one of the first things I thought of, and I'll tell ya - I didn't think it would take me over a year before I completed it but I did: #2 - Compile a list of all the films I've seen. As of this post it is at 1674 film. hahahaa. That averages about 76 a year or 6 a month if I count from when I remember actively choosing films to see. Currently I see about 3-5 new films on video/DVD as well 1 out at the theatre for my #7 - See 1 film a week in the theatre for a year. This week puts that up to 20 weeks, with Everything's Gone Green.

#94 - Read every day - done! Still reading Night Watch by Sergei Lukyanenko (had to return it though, so I'll continue it in a bit!), The Success Principles by Jack Canfield and I've started a few other books including How to Write Effective Emails by R.L. Trask which has some interesting suggestions but I feel like while reading it I'm experiences every bad email experience instead of learning how to create positive ones. I'm holding out hope there are more insights to come.

#2 - Compile a list of all the films I've seen

Here it is - the monster list of all films see! It's funny, this is one that I really wanted done... but the process of doing it wasn't totally fun. It was worth it though. It took quite a while to compile from film review guides, magazines, notes from watching film. Some I love, own and watch regularly. Some I've seen once. Some I don't even remember watching, but I've seem 'em all.

101 in 1001 update #61!!!

#7 - See 1 film a week in the theatre for a year is up to 19 weeks, as I got out to see Hot Fuzz. Fun movie!

#31 - Read 1 fashion magazine a month for May 07. I read a bunch in the store (bad bad!). Vogue, Elle and.... Allure. Not too much change from April. Light silver has a definate presence. Fitted sillouhettes, tube dresses even. Crazy patterns - from pucci-like to b&w graphic. Bright colours in various knits (slightly surprizing for almost summer). Numerous thin layers of varying patterns with some sheers. Nothing totally grabbed me.

Friday May 4/07 - I am sure I found many insights and learned many a thing while I was out with Jamie, but I can think of one offhand!
Saturday May 5/07 - You can keep CD's out for three weeks at the library! I thought it would be 1 like movies, but no - 3 weeks!
Sunday May 6/07 - There is going to be a movie based on Nancy Drew! Young sleuths unite!

May 6/07 - Enjoyed quite a few cuppa tea's! I actually got up at the (unspeakable) time of 7:30am to watch Cornation Street and decided since I would be enjoying it for a while I might as well do so by enjoying a nice pot of tea!

May 7/07 - Although I had a new recipe to try for tonight I decided to go with my gut and enjoy some real comfort food: pasta with parmesean cheese. Yummy. (I had a salad too).

Although this is something as a part of my reg Saturday it's really something I do just for me (and more exciting than laundry...). Which is heading to the library and checking out what is ready for me this week. This week was the first time I thought to get some CD's, which totally rocks and considering I've probably only bought 10 in the past 10 years I thought I have a lot to catch up on. Part of this was being inspired by this post by Intrepid Flame. I also love the link through to Library Thing.... sooooo much fun.

Jamie posted here (great SPC btw) about La Vie en Rose and that she has decided to do a 'Month of Me (M.O.M)' to and "decided that my gift to myself will be doing something every day of the month that nourishes my spirit."

Wow! What a brillant idea this is!

I really like this ideaand I've decided I'm gonna participate. Friday I decided that instead of writing my morning pages in the lunch room at work, I was gonna go downstairs, treat myself to a coffee and get away from it all for a bit. And it was great! I do feel bad about the ebil styrafoam cup though... I wish I didn't lug around so much stuff so that I would bring a travel mug with me. Anyhow, it was still great!

Book Meme

Talk about serendipity. Here I am, watching Fahrenheit 451 and thinking about books and feeling like I was to find a list of 'must reads', or come up with a list of must reads. Then I found this book meme on this blog I, Meme, Mine (she has a seperate blog just for meme, isn't that the coolest? I used to be an avid reader. One summer I rode my bike everyday to the library and just read and read and read. For a number of years I worked in a bookstore, and again I read and read (and bought more than I read...). Quite a few years ago though I almost stopped reading altogether. I finally realized time this I used to read, my situation had changed. I used to read on the subway, and when you only commute during rushhour on streetcars - reading isn't gonna happen. Part of my 101 in 1001 is to read these 20 books, and I'm surprized that at around 40% time gone by during the challenge I've only read about 25% of them.

Anyhow, on to the meme. I've no idea who came up with this original list, and I'm not saying is a 'must read' list but it looks like a good start!
