Film Fan Fridays for Friday October 27th, 2006!

Hello Film Fans and Fanatics!!!

Hugely political fare for the 'right before Halloween' weekend. Maybe true is scarier than fiction. Death of a President was known as one of the hottest tickets at the film fest this year (known there as D.O.A.P) that had some of the longest line ups I've seen. It is a speculative fiction piece on the what would happen if George W. Bush was assassinated in the future. A note to my US readers, this film appears to currently be banned from theatres in much of the US. Controvery continues with the release of Shut Up and Sing a documentary of The Dixie Chicks following them on tour after the anti-Bush comments in 2003 and beyond.

We have even more documentaries, although on slighlty different vein. Deviler Us From Evil surrounds the case of child molester Father Oliver O'Grady, as well as Into the Great Silence / Große Stille, Die which is a look at life in a monastary in the French Alps.

If you are looking for some more traditional scare-fare Saw III is among our releases. Also the Canadian Black Eyed Dog has its roots in a scary setting.
