Film Fan Fridays for Friday October 6th, 2006!

Hello Film Fans and Fanatics!!!

This week we again have a huge range of films to choose from. Starting of with some family fun, always good for a long weekend is Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker. Looking for something more comedic in nature? Two options here with Employee of the Month and Trailer Park Boys: The Movie. The later I may end up seeing if I choose 2006 to be my year of watching all Canadian films released. Surreal. I have no idea how to classify The Departed, so let's just say its Scorsese's latest! Getting a head start on scare season we have The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, creeps me out just thinking about it.

On to our limited releases. I wasn't surprized to see that Shortbus is showing in only one theatre, as the real sexual content is guaranteed to strike controversy. I was however, very surprized to see that The Last King of Scotland is only playing in one theatre as its already got Oscar Both films have people talking. It shall be interesting to see what they say.

Have a great Thanksgiving weekend!!

I am also surprised about Last King in Scotland only being in one theatre, Roeper really loved it and yes, thinks it's an Oscar contender for sure. R said that a lot of people could be very confused by the title and perhaps that was a poor choice on their part?

I believe the title is taken from the book it was based on. I'm not sure of the reference, but seemed a strange choiced based on the info I've heard on it.
