Film Fan Fridays for Friday June 16, 2006!!

Hello Film Fans and Fanatics!!!

Well we might be at a record for this year so far with an impressive 11 releases this week! With my ear to the ground I have heard the most anticipation out of our choices for Nacho Libre starring Jack Black and from Jared Hess the director of Napoleon Dynamite. I have my eye on Taepung / Typhoon, as I quite enjoyed Champion from director Kyung Taek-Kwak a compassionate and telling film about boxing and working against odds. I also have to admit I'm going to have to see The Lake House it appears to be totally compelling to me. If documentaries are more you style this week we have not one but two to choose from! Will you explore the world of crosswords with Wordplay or that of art with Sketches of Frank Gehry? I wonder if there will be any hint of Frank Gehry's current AGO transformation here in Toronto. On the other side of the planet, we have the location for The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift I was surprized at the director choice of Justin Lin who brought us Better Luck Tomorrow. However, I did uncover a new description for a rating of a film with Furious for, "reckless and illegal behavior involving teens" (from imdb). Very interesting. Its almost a little shocking to see this film considering how street racing appears to be a crime that is on the rise. Enjoy your options this week!

Have a great weekend!!

Shannon

I'm assuming that you're not anticipating Nacho Libre the most Shannon? LOL! I can't wait to see The Lake House, Reg really wants to see it too. Damn he's a cool guy. The movie got two thumbs up from R&E! I was a tad surprised actually.

There's no way I'd see a movie about teens and speed racing.

Nacho Libre didn't make my short list, no. Although I did really like Napoleon Dynamite. I'm not a huge Jack Black fan, even though School of Rock was great.
